Meet Dr. Akash Patel, MD
Akash Patel, MD, is a board-certified Family Medicine physician who is the founder of Steward Novacare Medical. Before joining Steward Medical Group, Dr. Patel devoted nearly a decade of his career as a former partner, board member, and physician with Compass Medical, providing care in the South Shore region for thousands of patients. He has a special clinical interest in preventative care, hypertension, and cardiovascular wellness.
Dr. Patel is a member of IMANE (Indian Medical Association of New England), serving as its president in 2022. Prior to joining Compass, he cared for patients at Next Care Urgent Care and previously worked in urgent care and private practice.
Dr. Patel received his medical degree from the Pramukhswami Medical College, Sardar Patel University in Gujarat, India. He moved to the United States shortly after his graduation and completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry/Hoboken University Medical Center. A member of the American Academy of Physicians and the Massachusetts Medical Society, Dr. Patel credits his parents with enabling his successful medical career.
Samantha Shea, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Samantha Shea is a board certified family nurse practitioner who specializes in care across the lifespan.
For the past 10 years, Samantha has worked at Massachusetts General Hospital overseeing the management of patients with complex medical conditions and post-surgical recovery.
While at MGH, Samantha earned several Excellence in Patient Care awards and was an active member of the Policy and Procedure board. She has also worked in leadership for the Department of Medicine, helping facilitate in-patient care and triage the Emergency department. Additionally, Samantha has worked as adjunct faculty teaching for undergraduate and accelerated baccalaureate nursing programs in the Boston area.
She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She later graduated cum laude from Sacred Heart University in Connecticut with her Master of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner track, and was a recipient of the Dean’s Leadership in Nursing award. Samantha’s passion for teaching is represented through patient education with the goal of improving patient outcomes with a patient and clinician integrative collaborative care approach.
Michelle Sparks, RN
Michelle Sparks, RN, is an experienced nurse manager who has worked extensively in the areas of internal medicine and family medicine, post-surgical care, adult psychiatry, and in ambulatory settings. A Boston native, Michelle is a graduate of Laboure College. She previously worked at South Shore Health, quickly advancing into a nurse management position.
Michelle approaches her clinical management style with a focus on safety, timeliness, effectiveness, efficiency, equality, and with the patient at the center of all care delivery. Michelle strives to have a respectable rapport with patients and to provide high quality, affordable and compassionate care to the community. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, interior design and spending time and creating memories with her children.
